We’d heard about the dino-surprise that would hit small screens this past weekend, but after premiering on FX last night, Universal has unleashed their new Jurassic World short film, Battle at Big Rock, on the Internet. And this ain’t no student film.
Directed by Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first Jurassic World and worked on the script for last year’s Fallen Kingdom, Big Rock stars André Holland, Natalie Martinez, Melody Hurd, and Pierson Salvador in a not-quite-apocalyptic-but-everything-ain’t-fine world of dinosaurs roaming the globe freely.
With a third Jurassic World gestating under Treverrow’s direction–slated for 2021–there’s a lot of ground to cover between now and then. People demand content! Battle at Big Rock isn’t the first time we’ve seen a toe-dipped into the pond of expanded Jurassic content, with an animated series teased to be coming in 2020 to tide over the hoards of ravenous carnivores clamoring for creature carnage and Chris Pratt charisma.
Keep Battle for Big Rock playing on loop until the tentatively-titled Jurassic World 3 releases June 11, 2021.
