Is it viral marketing when the blatantly reference the film in their mock news piece on it? I’m not sure, but that’s beside the point.
Sony is pushing Battle: Los Angeles once again with this pretty well done bit of marketing in which talking heads discuss alien sightings throughout time. That includes a fictional confrontation between the U.S. military and an unknown object over the skies of WWII L.A. I’m always a fan of when movies create a solid history to back themselves up and it looks like Battle is doing exactly that.
The real question is if the film itself turns out to be anything more than just another disappointing giant, alien monster movie. I’m hoping so, because then we can have a plethora of sequels spinning off into more and more cities until we reach Battle: Alton, Kansas. I can see the tag now: “They’ve conquered everywhere else.”
