The Beastie Boys, everybody’s favorite white boy rapping trio, are releasing a short film adaptation/remake/sequel of their 1987 music video, “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party).” In the video, the Boys crash a party, allowing a ruckus to begin.
According to JoBlo, Adam Yauch (known in the trio as MCA) is writing and directing the film, titled Fight For Your Right Revisited, and is debuting it at Sundance 2011. The synopsis on the festival’s website simply reads, “After the boys leave the party…” What’s interesting is that the cast is made up of some of the big stars in the comedy film genre, including Danny McBride, Will Ferrell, Jack Black and John C. Reilly. …and Elijah Wood. One image still has been released (which you can find in the gallery), showing Wood as Adam “Ad-Rock” Horvitz, McBride as Adam “MCA” Yauch, and Rogen as Mike “Mike D” Diamond.
This won’t be the Yauch’s first foray into the film scene. His independent film distribution company, Oscilloscope Laboratory, has distributed such films as Howl and WAFCA 2010’s Best Documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop. And if Spike Jonze’s career as an upstart director is any indication, Yauch might have a great film career.
