Bill and Ted plot details are totally excellent

The second I heard this upcoming news you are about to read I had to instantly make sure I had not gotten stuck in some time traveling phone booth and landing smack dab on April Fool’s Day again. Sit down and prepare to be amazed: Bill S. Preston, Esquire and “Ted” Theodore Logan are only about six weeks away from coming back to the big screen in a third installment of one of the greatest film franchises ever made, Bill and Ted.

OK, the screenplay is nearly six weeks away, but it’s still exciting to have its existence truly confirmed. Keanu Reeves broke the news that the franchise’s writers were hard at work on the script for the third film nearly 20 years after Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey landed. Reeves said that the screenplay was well underway and didn’t seem too concerned about the fact that both slacker, high school characters would now be in their 50s.

Reeves even explained that that works into the plot, “When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn’t happened. […] So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there’s an element of time and they have to go back.”

Time for a little air guitar, folks.
