Bill Murray is a man that can do anything. From playing Polonius in my favorite version of Hamlet to not being in Ghostbusters 3 and making me sad to being the single best thing about Zombieland, an already fun movie, Bill Murray can do anything. Now, he’s playing the 32nd President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Murray will be starring as the architect of the New Deal in an adaptation of the BBC radio play Hyde Park on the Hudson, which tells the story of Roosevelt’s affair with his cousin Margaret Stuckley during a visit from the British King and Queen.
People do tend to forget that, apart from being one of the funniest men ever, Bill Murray is actually a classically-trained Shakespearean actor and a damn fine actor in general. Right now, the most memorable portrayal we have of FDR is Jon Voight in Pearl Harbor, so there’s room to do the man some justice.
