Not satisfied by the geekiest lineup of actors to ever be in the same movie together, Peter Jackson has just casted Scottish comedian Billy Connolly in the role of Dain Ironfoot for his adaptation of The Hobbit. It’s not known whether he’ll be in part one, or be reserved for the second half of the story.
From what I remember of the book, Dain was one of Thorin’s relatives and showed up at the end of the book for the Battle of Five Armies. So, my guess is that the Big Yin won’t be appearing until part two, There and Back Again. Sure, it’s a smaller part, but Connolly is going to make for a great Dain. I’m so sorry for that awful pun.
