Bombshell dropped its teaser trailer a few months ago and it was on fire. Now, the first full trailer for the movie has landed and it doesn’t drop the ball either, making nice use of the song “Bad Guy” and delivering some good looks at the film’s stellar cast. You’ll note a lot of blonde hair too, but that makes sense given the penchant of Fox News to feature blonde-haired female anchors.
As you can see, the film wants to fall into the sort of “so real its funny” genre of movies that Adam McKay has made his name in with films like The Big Short. Of course, it isn’t directed by him but Jay Roach, who kind of dipped a toe into it with Trumbo. Still, as the trailer shows, they’re going to tie it to that ilk. It’s a smart move. Those movies make money and are beloved by critics and with Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, and Margot Robbie starring it’s hard to imagine the performances not being up to snuff.
My big issue here? All these women did some bad things while at Fox News and the trailer is painting them as nothing but heroes. I hope the movie itself balances that out a bit.
Bombshell will explode into theaters on December 20.
