There are all sorts of ways to overcome an alcohol dependency–self-help books, therapy, Alcoholics Anonymous. One method covered much too rarely, however, is vigilante violence. Sometimes all you have to do is shoot a gangster with a flare gun to really feel like you’re getting your life back together. It’s cheaper than a counselor, too!
Marie shows us just what a twelve-shot program looks like in the above trailer for Bloody Marie. After our titular graphic novelist sees her neighbor get murdered by some Euro-thugs she decides to put the bottle down and pick up the gun. You can tell the movie is Dutch, because this booze-and-bullets revenge thriller is about a middle-aged woman instead of mid-sixties flag-saluting patriot of a man. It’s all about the little differences.
This looks dark and intriguing, and I’m into the neon colors of the red-light district. It’s also refreshing to see an action flick where our heroine isn’t drawn to be some sex-kitten turned badass. We’ll get to see exactly what Bloody Marie has to offer when it hits limited theaters on November 1, 2019 and VOD on November 11.
