Toppling Gravity‘s astonishing four week box office domination (maybe that’ll show Hollywood that people still want smart, original films) is Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. While I figured it would do well, I had no idea it’d come in first since The Counselor released with so much hype.
I assume because The Counselor was such a mess (and 12 Years A Slave had a limited release but surprisingly still cracked the top ten), that Bad Grandpa was the only viable decision for most folks in the 18-24 demographic. Or at least I underestimated the power of the Jackass name. It looks like adding a story to the conventional shenanigans gave the film the boost it needed. More power to them.
You’ll find the list of the box office performances this week after the cut.
