In a surprising turn of events, it seems we had a two-way tie for top grossing film this weekend. According to Rentrak’s numbers, House at the End of the Street and End of Watch made about $13m each. Critically-praised don’t always make a ton of money at the box office, but it’s good to see End of Watch making a lot of money. I’ve had private conversations about the film, so to see crowds coming out to support such a film.
The big surprise is the Olivia Thirlby-starring Dredd making a measly $6m. Does this mean it’ll follow in the recent remake rut that plagued the Total Recall remake? Only time will tell. The rest of the weekend’s box office numbers are below.
