On its way to banking not only the highest second-weekend gross of $103m and the fastest domestic release to reach $300m, The Avengers also crossed the $1b mark across the world. Wow. Huge congratulations are in order for Marvel, Disney, Joss Whedon, and the whole cast and crew of The Avengers. Finally, a film that actually deserves all of the accolades and money that it’s receiving.
In other box office news, yet another uninspired Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration underperformed, a Steve Harvey-inspired film is still in the Top 3, and I still haven’t seen The Hunger Games.
