Despite losing the top spot in this holiday weekend’s box office, The Avengers has become only the fourth movie to amass $500m in domestic sales. It’s quite a feat for a movie many thought wouldn’t end up being so well-received, given the relatively unproven film directing career of Joss Whedon.
But as stated, the Will Smith and Josh Brolin-led threequel, Men in Black 3, had the highest domestic gross with over $55m this weekend. Congratulations, Mr. Smith. I know a lot of people were clamoring for you to do the theme song for this film, but given how bad the song was for MIB 2, I’m glad you didn’t.
