While we were busy talking about some of the best films of 2013, 2014 farted out its worst film, The Legend of Hercules. According to Matt’s review, it’s absolutely terrible so go watch it if you like train wrecks. Instead, most people saw Lone Survivor as it took the top spot at 38 million, beating out Frozen. Don’t underestimate military movies, I guess.
In sad news, Her finally had its wide release and it didn’t even crack the top ten. It’s about what I expected, but I’m hoping its Golden Globe win and Oscar hype help carry it further. It’s a damn good flick. In better news, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is now 2013’s top grossing film (beating Iron Man 3), making it the first female led film since the Exorcist to do so. Congrats! Here’s hoping Mockingjay is better!
