It looks like I bet on the wrong horse. In a neat turn of events, audiences flocked more toward the weird outsider film, Lucy, than the sweating mass of manmeat, Hercules. I’d like to take this time to thank America for being smarter with their movie choices. They didn’t see Transformers: Age of Extinction as much, avoided the subpar Hercules, and the better films, like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, are dominating the Summer. Good job.
Lucy won the weekend with $44 million, Hercules in distant second with $29 million, and Apes brings up the rear with $16 million. Hit the jump for the full list of box office performances for the July 25-28 weekend.
