While Better Call Saul is great, the follow news may be satisfying to hear from Breaking Bad fans missing some of the classic, core characters of the original show. The mastermind behind the Breaking Bad universe is working on a two-hour film set in that world, so sayeth THR. It is unclear whether the film will be theatrical or on television, but /Film reports that it will focus on Jesse Pinkman, as played by multiple Emmy winner Aaron Paul.
These reports say that the premise of the film involves “the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.” Anyone who saw that final Breaking Bad episode will say that Jesse Pinkman fits the bill perfectly. That same report claims that the working title of the project is simply “Greenbrier.” If you found the news to be abrupt, you may be interested to learn that the project is already scheduled to start production in New Mexico this month.
While I would love to see Aaron Paul cameo in Better Call Saul, it would be far more interesting to see what happens to his character after rather than before the events of Breaking Bad. Paul is due for a role in Westworld, so while his television career is thriving (those Vitamin Water commercials he’s in are bangers), his movie career could use some work. Need for Speed ain’t doing it.
With production beginning quite soon, it shouldn’t be too long before some more official information releases about whatever this film is to be. In the meanwhile, I’ll be rewatching one of several Better Call Saul montage scenes while waiting for season 5.
