Broad City creators and stars Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are working on a movie with Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, The Hollywood Reporter…uh, reports. Anyone familiar with Glazer and Jacobson won’t be surprised with this one bit – the pair is a rising star in the comedy world, and their Comedy Central sitcom (which began as a series of web shorts) knows it’s one of the most hilarious and original shows on television right now.
As of now, very little is known about the project, except for the fact that Jacobson, Glazer and Feig have sold it to 20th Century Fox. The film is currently untitled; Feig isn’t attached to direct the feature and Jacobson and Glazer aren’t set to star.
This is very welcome (and again, totally unsurprising) news – Broad City is seriously the best thing to hit Comedy Central in years (give or take a Key & Peele or an Inside Amy Schumer) and if you’re not watching it you absolutely should be. The two pairing with Feig is a no-brainer; perhaps best known for Freaks & Geeks, he has a knack for female-led comedies. The writer, producer and director launched Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy into stardom and is set to direct the all-female Ghostbusters due out next year.
