Brooks back for Nemo 2, Stanton to helm more live action

0

Some very good news out of Disney/Pixar today as we learn that Albert Brooks has finally signed on to Finding Nemo 2 to reprise his role as Marlin. Who knows why it took this long, but he evidently inked a really great deal. Whatever they’re paying him it’s well worth it as it really wouldn’t be the same without his iconic voice.

However, the more interesting news out of Deadlines report is that Finding Nemo 2 director Andrew Stanton, who also directed the first Finding Nemo, will get to direct a live action film after Nemo 2. Why is this a big deal? Because Stanton directed John Carter, which was one of the biggest busts in movie history. Evidently Disney has some faith in him and are willing to give him another shot in the live action realm.

I’ve got faith in him too. John Carter was actually enjoyable and suffered more from bad marketing and plotting than poor directing. Hopefully they give him something that will grab audiences a bit more so that people can see he is quite a talented director.
