Bruce Campbell may be done with Ash, but hints that more Evil Dead could be on its way

Not even the Necronomicon can keep this franchise down. Bruce Campbell had stated, after Ash vs Evil Dead was canceled after three seasons, that he was retiring from the role of Ashley J. Williams. That was mostly true. I’d love to go on and say that he has taken the role up again, but sadly that is not the case. Bruce Campbell will always be associated with the character of Ash because it is an iconic role. The Evil Dead was made on a shoestring budget between friends and whoever they could afford to help them make it. They went through hell and created a true classic. It stands to reason that despite retiring from the role that the question of would he ever play Ash again would come up. He was asked about it recently and the answer may surprise you.

“I’m still doing video games, I’m doing voices for Ash. I’m just not going to grovel in the blood anymore…They’re going to see different versions, they’re going to be seeing more Evil Dead, too. We’re not done with the Evil Dead saga, more stories to tell.”

It unclear if he has other voice acting projects, as Ash, in the works but the character of Ash was recently added to the game Dead by Deadlight. It’s good to know that in some way this character will continue, even if it’s not in live action. It sure was a lot of fun to watch Ash fight through all the blood and deadites, but if this world is still around then there’s still fun to be had. The Evil Dead remake showed us that stories in this playground can exist without Ash. Here’s hoping that we get something along those lines, whether it be a movie or another tv series. It’s exciting to know that this franchise still has enough gas to keep the chainsaw going, even without its king.
