Sometimes, an assassin needs to kidnap a rival assassin’s daughter to make a point. I mean, we’ve all been there, right? Okay, maybe not, but the kidnapping of young girls while they’re away from home is definitely a popular plot device in movies these days. Brian A Miller (Caught in the Crossfire/ The Outsider) is the latest director to take a stab at this kind of story in his latest action movie, The Prince. Bruce Willis and Jason Patric star as, you guessed it, rival assassins who spar off after Willis’ character kidnaps Patric’s daughter.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
A retired assassin is drawn back into the life he gave up when his daughter is kidnapped. To rescue her, he must confront his former rival.
And that’s really all there is to it. The Prince seems to borrow a little from films like Taken, Taken, and Taken. Can you see where I’m going with this? We’ve seen this story before. Although I’m sure there will be some audience with people who just like to see Bruce Willis in action movies. And Jason Patric did star as Michael in The Lost Boys once upon a time and his performance wasn’t all bad in that, so who knows?
The Prince opens August 22nd.
