Sometimes you write a headline and then you have to stare at it a while and make sure that you’re still alive and that the world hasn’t actually gone through the Rapture. This was one of those headlines.
Speaking recently about one of Hasbro’s upcoming movies-based-on-their-games one of the screenwriters of the Candy Land film, Jonathan Aibel, admitted that he had some pretty high hopes for the film by saying, “We envision it as Lord of The Rings, but set in a world of candy…”
I don’t really have to go on since I’m pretty sure the idea of LoTR in a world of candy has either put you in a coma of horror or a coma of joy depending on your stance on candy and LoTR, but Aibel did go on to say, “We don’t see it as a movie based on a board game, although it has characters from that world and takes the idea of people finding themselves in a world that happens to be made entirely of candy where there are huge battles going on… We are going for real comedy, real action, and real emotions at stake.”
Now I haven’t played the game in a really long time, but I did always think there was something more to Princess Lolly. Sure she looked cute and adorable, but you always got the feeling that you didn’t want to turn your back on her or you’d end up with a lollipop in the back and a candy where the sun don’t shine.
