It looks like Casey Affleck and screenwriter Chuck Maclean have sold Warner Bros. on a pitch about making a thriller based on the infamous Boston Strangler murders that took place during the 1960’s. Affleck is looking to star as one of the detectives assigned with tracking down the notorious killer and is also looking to produce the picture. The younger of the Affleck brothers has some experience behind the camera, having written, produced, and directed the Joaquin Phoenix starring I’m Still Here, but I’m sure there are some who would argue that it doesn’t count for much.
It’s reported that the film will be going for a Zodiac and Se7en vibe, which is to be expected I suppose. As long as we don’t get another The Killer Inside Me, I’m fine with whatever they settle on. Maclean made the 2011 Black List with his script Bridges On The Fort Point Channel, and is currently writing another film titled Storming Las Vegas, so it’ll be a little while yet before this ball get’s rolling.
