On Friday, August 28, 2020, Chadwick Boseman died after a four year battle with colon cancer. Back in 2016, Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer and continued to act as it slowly progressed to stage IV. Between film shoots, the actor underwent constant chemotherapy and surgeries. The actor, 43 years old, died surrounded by his family.

Chadwick Boseman began acting in television before transitioning to film, gaining notoriety in roles like 2012’s 42 as Jackie Robinson, 2014’s Get on Up as James Brown, and 2017’s Marshall as Thurgood Marshall. His most notable role is his turn as T’Challa in a variety of MCU movies, including Black Panther, Infinity War, and Captain America: Civil War. His most recent film credit was as Sgt. “Stormin’ Norm” in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods. His final role will be in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, based on a play by August Wilson, alongside Viola Davis.
Boseman is survived by his wife and family.
