Get the tissues ready moviegoers, Pixar is getting ready to take us all on another emotional journey into our very souls. The first full length trailer for Soul (starring Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey) made its debut online today and boy is it a good one. There are some pretty hard-hitting moments just in the trailer and questions that hit home hard. I never thought a trailer would make me question my very own existence, but there you go. Well done, Pixar.
The film’s characters are already capturing people’s hearts and minds and I am sure there will no dry eyes in theaters by the time the film ends. Its main character, Joe Gardner, simply wants to make it big as a jazz musician and has a rather unfortunate accident that results in him being stuck in limbo. Gardner then teams up with Fey’s character, a soul named 22, who wants nothing to do with Earth at all.
The hardest-hitting line in the film for me, “Is all this living really worth dying for?”. If Inside Out didn’t hit home for you, this sure as hell will. I pray this one doesn’t get delayed too.
Soul is scheduled to hit theaters on June 19, 2020.
