If you grew up watching Saved by the Bell, get ready to relive those good old days at Bayside High all over again. Two of the original stars of the show, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, took to Instagram to share a short video recorded that gives us a sneak peak of the production. Looking very retro, Lopez even points out how sitting in the iconic diner set is like stepping back in time.
The premise of this new take on an old favorite is an interesting one. Zack Morris is now the Governor of California and decides to close low performing high schools. This, of course, gets him in some hot water. For the students who are displaced, he suggests they get sent to the higher-performing schools, such as Bayside.
The reason for this quick video was to give fans an early look. The cast is filming a promo for NBC’s Saved by the Bell reboot and wanted to let everyone catch a sneak peak. Along with this clip is news that Mark-Paul Gosselaar will be joining the cast and reprising his Zack Morris character from the original. He’s set for just the first three episodes. Tiffani Thiessen, who played Kelly in the original, is also making a comeback.
It all sounds interesting and I can’t wait to check it out.
