If you’re into house music, EDEN might just be the movie for you. Directed by Mia Hansen-Løve, EDEN centers around Paul, a teen in the Paris music scene in the early-90s – a culture dominated by raves. As he strives to achieve his dream of becoming a professional DJ and begins a collective called Cheers, he and his friends find themselves entrenched in a nightlife of sex, drugs and music. The film is inspired by the experiences of Hansen-Løve’s brother Sven, who co-wrote the film. EDEN also features a subplot in which Paul’s friends form a DJ collective called Daft Punk, which is definitely a fictional group that would never find mainstream success in the real world.
