We can argue back and forth all day over whether or not Johnathan Liebesman’s take on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a good film or not, but we all seem to universally agree on how terrible everything looked. Regardless of how much folks liked the film, a criticism I heard for a while after its release were the ugly designs of the turtles themselves. That hyper realism didn’t mesh well with the comedy. But it would’ve worked great with the villains.
Apparently, Krang, Bebop, and Rcoksteady were once considered for the film. Who knows why they were taken out (maybe they’ll show up in the sequel?), but concept art from Tsvetomir Georgiev shows they would’ve looked cool. Peep the art in the gallery (along with an early rendition of the ill advised “Colonel Shraeder”), and check out his Facebook page for more work.
