Lots of casting announcements have been coming out over the past month for Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s The Three Stooges, a revival of the classic comedy shorts. First we heard of Will Sasso cast as Curly, then Sean Hayes was cast as Larry, and leaving Moe as the next logical announcement. Instead we learned that Sofia Vergara would be playing a femme fatale in the second vignette.
Now, we’ve finally got confirmation of Moe’s actor, and it’s probably not who you thought it would be. Despite rumors of Hank Azaria getting a soup-bowl haircut, Deadline reports that it is actually Chris Diamantopolous who will be batting Larry and Curly around.
He looks a little too handsome for my tastes, but I suppose the soup-bowl haircut has the potential to destroy any good looks. Now we’ll just have to wait to see if the Farrelly Brothers will cast a Shemp, or they really want to get obscure, a Joe Besser or Curly Joe DeRita.
