By Geez, who wants to see these two hacks get back together again, amirite? What’s that you say? Academy Award winning performance? Multiple awards and nominations? Oh, that Christian Bale and David O. Russell. Silly me. Then this is fantastic news!
It looks like Bale has signed on to Russell’s new drama, tentatively titled American Bullsh*t, and is joined by the likes of Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, and Bradley Cooper. Variety offers a synopsis below:
The Untitled David O. Russell Project” is based on the true story of a financial con artist (Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams), who were forced to work with an out-of-control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters, and politicians. At the epicenter of the tale is the volatile leader of the New Jersey state assembly (Renner) who is also the local hero and mayor of impoverished Camden.
It’s like White Collar the movie! Okay, maybe that’s taking too much liberty, but it does sound pretty damn awesome. I don’t think anyone is going argue with Bale and Russell trying to capture lightening twice, and then throw in Adams, Renner, and Cooper and I’d say that sounds like a recipe for success. Let’s just hope that Bale doesn’t feel the need to lose a ridiculous amount of weight for the fourth time. Dude’s life expectancy is going down the drain.
