By As if there were any doubt in our minds, Chris Nolan has announced that he’s completely done with the Batman franchise, and will not be working on a Justice League movie for Warners. This news comes from a Dark Knight Rises junket, with the director saying that “We’re finished with all we’re doing with Batman. This is the end of our take on this character.”
Good! Now, that doesn’t mean he isn’t completely out of the Batman game. He and his wife/producer Emma Thomas will be producing the next Batflick, so expect some of their input there. So really, it just sounds like he’s done directing superhero flicks to focus on other projects. Which I’m all for. All of my favorite Nolan movies are the non-Batman flicks anyway. However, I’m very interested in a different take on Batman. I really don’t know how much more grim and gritty Batman I can take, which Nolan and co. seem to be all about.
