In 2013, Netflix introduced the world to the Underwoods. A husband and wife from South Carolina who shared the solitary goal of residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Through hard work and late nights, they two dreamers achieved their goal. Well, hard work with a heavy dose of deceit, manipulation, and murder. As Frank Underwood once told us, the road to power is paved with hypocrisy and casualties.
Entering its final season sans Kevin Spacey (due to sexual assault allegations), Netflix has released a teaser centered around Claire and her newfound presidency after Frank’s resignation. The showrunners aren’t trying to hide the fact that Frank kicked the bucket in between seasons and one of the most polarizing characters in television takes center stage in full form. Throughout the show’s run, Claire has often shown vulnerability and seemingly genuine emotion only to use that for her own personal gain. In the newly released trailer, she’s as strong and focused as ever. Yes, there are tears and smeared makeup, but what prompts concern of vulnerable sheep is quickly turned glaring wolf with one stone cold look into the camera.
The sixth and final season of House of Cards will release on Netflix on November 2nd.
