For a while it appeared that the ambitious adaptation of Cloud Atlas from Tom Tykwer and the Wachowskis was going to come out December 6th. There’s been a bit of change since last month, however. Warner Bros. has officially announced an October 26th domestic release for Cloud Atlas, with an international release planned for early 2013.
The shift from December to October isn’t necessarily good or bad. (It’s good for me since I really want to see how they adapted a book that seems unadaptable.) It might have been done to stay afloat at the box office a bit longer, competing with Robert Zemeckis’s Flight and Wreck-It Ralph the week after October 26th rather than against fellow epics Les Miserables and The Hobbit the next week in December.
Since October is not too far away, expect a Cloud Atlas trailer in the not too distant future. After the cut, the press release from Warner Bros.
