It seems nothing from the past will remain buried. In a new report from Deadline, it appears that Fox/Disney are looking to reboot the 1985 film Clue with a new cast. Based off of the stupidly popular Hasbro board game, Clue is all about trying to discover who killed whom in a spooky mansion. The previous film kind of misunderstood that, but also embedded the endeavor with a ridiculous amount of cheesy charm.
As for who’s attached, it’s stated that Jason Bateman will be developing a script for the project with Ryan Reynolds. Both will also be starring in the film, though possibly not as lead actors. Reynolds will serve as an executive producer through his Maximum Effort label alongside Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures film division. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will be penning the script, as well as reuniting with Reynolds after their work on both Deadpool films.
I’m not exactly sure Clue needs a reboot, but Reynolds did turn in a solid performance as Detective Pikachu. If he feels mystery is in his blood, who am I to tell him no?
