The surprisingly amazing Cobra Kai will be returning to Netflix for season four this December. Promising more action, teenage drama, and nostalgia for a film that was maybe never that big of a deal, I’m personally excited as hell. Having only gotten into the show this past year after a visit to the dentist (bizarre story, I know), I’m surprised at how realistic the dialogue is. Everything is very relatable…except for maybe the all-out high-school brawl.
It’s not just a tournament. It’s the battle for the soul of the Valley.

By this point, I think most people know that Cobra Kai is based on The Karate Kid. Instead of making a show that plays up nostalgia to say the same damn thing as every other reboot, Cobra Kai amazingly tells a tale of the follies of hero-worship, living in the past, and how to let go of your failures. It doesn’t hurt that the acting is generally top-notch, even from side characters.
I don’t know if we’ll see any more guest appearances from previous Karate Kid actors (some are speculating Hilary Swank may show up), but I’m sure this fourth season will give us everything we’re hoping for. Maybe reel in some of the more absurd elements so that the show doesn’t feel too much like Degrassi.
