Sometimes I see a trailer for a movie, and it makes me wonder why other movies even bother to exist. This is definitely one such trailer.
I’d never heard of Tammy and the T-Rex, a 90’s (if you somehow couldn’t tell from the trailer) horror/romantic comedy about a girl and her high school sweetheart–whose brain happens to be in the body of a giant revenge-fueled T-Rex, until its never-before-seen unrated Gore Cut was announced to premier at Cinepocalypse. I would be sad about this, but the original release was rated PG-13, and from what I’ve seen Tammy and the T-Rex needs large doses of violence and gore to achieve its original artistic vision.
Buff dudes grab each other’s penises to fight. The T-Rex offers Tammy a flower and bites off a scientist’s head. That theme song, man, it’s going to be stuck in my head all day. There’s nothing in this trailer I don’t love, and I’m incredibly jealous of anyone who gets to see this.
Let’s hope it gets a video release soon after its premier at the Chicago Music Box Theater on Monday, June 17th.
