Easter-themed horror movies are hard to come by. Honestly, I’m drawing a blank beyond Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! That’s a crying shame, as there should be a laundry list of horror movies released for every holiday. Alas, Rottentail is just another mark on a fairly short list. From what I’ve seen of this trailer, though, it already looks miles more fun than Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! so it may very well be the greatest Easter horror movie of all time–
But is it better than Peter Rottentail, Kottentail, or Beaster Day: Here Comes Peter Cottonhell? I don’t know. I haven’t seen them, either, but I think it stands a pretty good shot.
Apparently based on a comic book of the same name, Rottentail follows a science geek (named Peter Cotton, of course) who’s bitten by a radioactive rabbit and mutates into Rottentail. He uses his new found bunnyman powers to then go on a bloody rampage of revenge that carries him down that godforsaken bunny trail back to his home in Easter Falls.
That sounds cartoonishly absurd and on-the-nose and absolutely everything it ought to be. The trailer looks bloody and fun, so I shall wait with baited breath for when it hits theaters on April 12 and DVD and Blu-ray on April 29, 2019.
