Not since Jurassic Games have I been so amused by one slim fragment of a trailer. This time it’s not a man’s dinosaur-kicking action, but rather a teen getting shot in the chest. Doesn’t sound nearly as interesting typed out, and yet here we are.
I like to think I’ve seen a lot of people get shot to death in movies. I’m an expert in seeing dude’s spout blood and fall over. Somehow, though, I’ve been shocked anew by this fresh interpretation that looks like something out of an episode of Workaholics rather than a horror movie. Maybe Dead Sound is going the dark comedy angle. I don’t know. All that’s sure is that I’m laughing.
Also, the ship’s captain shouting at the captive teens at the trailer’s end is pretty hammy and amusing. Nothing can top the shooting, though. Don’t feel like watching the whole trailer to see what I’m talking about? Here’s a gif for your convenience.
I can watch this over and over. The jittering, Frankenstein-style shambling followed by just a dead drop. It’s almost a master class in spoofy physical humor. I love it.
Dead Sound sees a group of teens who missed the last ferry to a huge party on Block Island take up with a fishing vessel where the captain has more sinister plans for the would-be revelers. It’ll hit DVD and VOD on March 3, and if nothing else it looks fun.
