Cuphead cartoon is coming to Netflix

Cuphead is the little indy game that could. With it’s wild success on Xbox and now Switch the game has captured the minds of gamers and probably broken a few controllers here and there. A major part of this, aside from challenging, old school gamplay, is its animation style, which, as you can clearly see, harkins back to the early days of cartoons. Now, we’ll all be able to relive those days without challenging ourselves to demonic gameplay through Netflix and a Cuphead cartoon they have in production.

King Features Syndicate, a part of Hearst Entertainment and Syndication, which sounds like an evil overlord from some dystopian future is partnering with Netflix to bring us all The Cuphead Show!. The show is going to expand on the universe of the game and will definitely feature both Cuphead and his brother Mugman, though it’s not clear if they’ll still be caught in that devilish deal from the game. Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, the creators of the game and two guys who probably like items you drink liquid out of, will executive produce the show, which leads me to believe we’ll be getting a not-so-kid friendly cartoon out of this.

This is the perfect fit for Cuphead, which features irreverent and adult humor in an animation style that is mostly geared towards adults anyway. Unlike other games, there’s plenty to unpack in the world too so there’s no reason to think they can’t make something truly unique out of this sucker. The only issue I could possibly have with this is if it turns into a Game of Thrones situation, where the brothers are so busy making a TV show they forget to make a sequel.
