Talking at a visit to Hever Castle in Kent, Dame Judi Dench said that she’ll be reprising her role as 007’s scowly-faced boss M when Bond 23 starts shooting in November.
“I am going to do the next Bond in November. I don’t know the location yet but hopefully it will be somewhere nice. I can’t tell you much more but I do enjoy playing M as she is such a strong character. I like being bossy and my grandson thinks its cool that I’m in Bond.”
Apart from the usual flood of unfounded rumours (the latest being to link Ralph Fiennes to a role in the film, following Anthony Hopkins laughing off a similar story), the status of Bond 23 has been difficult to determine since MGM were saved from their financial troubles. We know that the film has a release date of November 2012 and that Javier Bardem was approached for a role (according to his own word, at least), but no suggestion that a script had been finished or anyone outside Daniel Craig officially cast. Now that we have a shooting date, hopefully a few more details will come to light. Quantum of Solace was officially named in January 2008, ahead of its release in November, so the producers may be sticking to a similar schedule this year.
