Daniel Radcliffe gets lost trying to find himself in Jungle

In his ongoing bid to separate himself from his childhood role as Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has been taking on a variety of roles to show that he’s not just a wizard. He’s been a “hunchback”, a 1940’s poet, and a dead guy who farts a lot. So what’s next on the list? Of course it’s a backpacking early 20’s Israeli Navy veteran trying to find himself in South America.

Jungle is based on the memoir of Yossi Ghinsberg who Radcliffe plays (I’ve got 100 on him surviving, who will take this bet?) and the ill fated trip he took with backpacking friends and a supposed experienced guide into the Amazon in the 1980’s. Things go south and before you know it Yossi is eating forest animals and dealing with wicked spiders the size of your head. As someone who is still trying to get over a fear of spiders and scorpions I think I’ll skip this one but outside of me being a wuss it actually looks like a decent thriller.

Jungle will have its world premiere at the 2017 Melbourne Film Festival on opening night. No publisher has picked it up yet but with the star power of Radcliffe behind it, Jungle should be able to warrant at least a VOD if not full theatrical release.
