The Dark Knight Rises plot rumor du jour ties into the recent rumor that Bronson’s Tom Hardy has been cast as Dr. Hugo Strange, the Batman-obsessed psychologist that figured out Batman’s true identity. The Dark Knight Rises may be based off of a storyline from Legends of the Dark Knight issues #11-15, a story arc called “Prey,†in which Dr. Strange does the aforementioned deducing of Batman’s identity while pressuring Commissioner Gordon to lead a task force against The Caped Crusader. Catwoman features heavily into the arc as well, so that would be an easy way to introduce a character many have been clamoring for since Batman Begins. If this story does influence DKR, it will likely be not a straight adaptation of the story arc but rather use elements of it to tell whatever story Christopher Nolan is going for, as I’ve discussed in the past.
As with all Batman rumors, take it with a grain of salt. However, if everything we’ve been hearing so far in regards to casting and various villains, this could be plausible.
