By Denzel Washington is an actor who is typecast often, and the roles he takes usually have him portraying a brutal killing machine who has little tolerance for bad guys. Sure, he’ll do something more dramatic every now and then, like Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming Flight, but for the most part he likes to stick to shooting and punching people in the face. So surprise surprise, Denzel is confirmed as the star of The Equalizer, a film based on a television show I’ve never heard of where an ex-covert operative helps those victimized by ne’er do wells.
Just as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, Denzel Washington will continue to protect the innocent by blowing up the nefarious. The only difference this time is that there are talks of possibly creating a franchise from the property. That would be great because then we can watch Denzel play the same character in a series of films instead of playing the same character type in just about everything else he takes on.
Who am I kidding? I love the man just as much as anyone else because he always plays such a bad-ass!
