Michael Basset, the director of Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, is a pretty cool dude. I had a roundtable interview with him and producer Samuel Hadida today and the interview closed out with the obvious question of “Do you see a future for you and Silent Hill?”
He had this to say:
I hope so…I think it’s exciting now to start stepping away from the games and say this a world that you can really tell original stories in, and whether I do it…I’m sort of quite excited to have other film-makers step into the world and see what they would do with it…what’s their sensibility. I wouldn’t be at all offended if Sammy said, ‘Hey, I’ve got a great new director who’s got this idea,’ hey, go play in Silent Hill, let’s see what you come up with.”
I haven’t seen the movie yet (that’s tonight), but Bassett’s enthusiasm for the franchise was apparent, and the fact that he would like to see the franchise continue is great news for any fan.
