The upcoming remake of The Raid may be kind of unnecessary, but it’s happening anyway, and now director Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3) has let loose a few details about his next project. “We have a really, really interesting take on that film,” he told Coming Soon. “So our take on it is really interesting and I feel like if anything what I want to do is elevate the emotional aspect of it…” Apparently, the film will follow a DEA task force as they go on some sort of mission, which makes it sound as much like Dredd as it does The Raid, but I’ll take it. He goes on to remind us that it’s interesting literally two more times in the same sentence, just in case anyone had forgotten.
Sarcasm aside, I’m actually pretty excited for this remake, exclusively because the original film’s choreographers are going to be working on it as well. So whether Hughes makes a mockery of the narrative or not, we’re going to be in for some more awesome fight scenes, and I’m not going to complain about that.
