According to LA Times, Disney has a new sci-fi thriller up its sleeve. They’re making Hovercar 3-D, a movie set in the not-so-distant future where hovercars not only replace our horribly slow and earth-bound cars, they have also set off a hovercar racing craze. Which, inexplicably, kids are allowed to race in. ‘Cos strapping kids into rockets isn’t dangerous at all, right?
The film’s based on a online serial, which was later made into a book, written by the popular Australian author Matthew Reilly. Currently, Disney has commercials and videos director Fredrik Bond (who’s commericals can be found on SlashFilm) is being considered for director and Blaise Hemingway is lined up to write it.
After reading one of Rielly’s books once, I can’t say I was too impressed, but things can always work out differently in film, I suppose.
