With the deluge of comic book films coming our way the rest of this (sigh) decade, anything that’ll make one film stand out from the rest is good. Fox’s newest Fantastic Four reboot has been getting quite a lot of attention already since it’s cast a great quad of people, and Michael B. Jordan is now playing Johnny Storm (who’s usually portrayed as a white man).
That’s not where the differences end apparently. Speaking with Collider, Toby Kebell talked about his portrayal of Dr. Victor Von Doom in the upcoming film:
…The only thing I can tease you about is what I worked on most was the voice…There’s a mild change and I’ll tell you because of our history. He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m “Doom.
Doom isn’t going to be a ruler of Latvaria or anything like that and, like in the first set of films, is just some smart jerk. I’m really digging this. I know fans might be against this, and would rather have classic doom, but I’m ready for a fresh perspective. I mean, what’s the point of rebooting if you’re just going to do the same thing over again. Besides, none of this is actually confirmed so there’s still a chance this is all hokey. What do you think? The Fantastic Four is set to release August 7th, 2015.
