Speaking to Variety, a Marvel spokesperson said, “Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU.” Derrickson will remain involved with the project as an executive producer, though the hunt for a new director will begin.
Marvel doesn’t anticipate any delays with shooting, so it looks like everything is on track for the movie’s originally stated May 7, 2021 release. I’m not too hopeful that this is a good thing, but we’ll have to wait and see.
