Bleeding Cool is reporting that Don Cheadle will reprise his role as Col. Rhodes in Avengers: Age of Ultron, a story which has been corroborated by Badass Digest’s Devin Farachi. The extent of Cheadle’s involvement has not been clarified, but Farachi is claiming Cheadle will be armor-clad in the film.
This is such a great idea, I honestly do love everything about this. Cheadle was great in Iron Man 2 and even better in 3. It’d be really neat to see the snarkier, generally cooler Rhodey from Iron Man 3 mixing it up with the other Avengers. Hell, the scenes with him and Cap practically write themselves. Rhodey not being in the first movie did make some sense, but now that the Avengers are a thing in that world, why wouldn’t Rhodey want to help out?
And that’s all before you consider how great it would be to have an awesome black guy in the Avengers. More diversity in superhero movies — movies in general, even — is always a good thing. I hope this is the beginning of a more diverse Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I’m even more hyped for this movie than I was before this news. What about you? Does Cheadle’s involvement make you excited, or really excited?
