Listen up, Gloveheads: It looks like Donald Glover has created some top-secret film project, which was shot in Cuba–one can only assume because it would have been illegal to make in America. What’s the movie about? Who are the characters? Are there even characters? No one can say for sure. It’s all be wrapped in a fiendish cloak of mystery.
What we do know, however, is that Glover’s teamed up with director Hiro Murai (who’s directed plenty of Atlanta and the “This is America” music video) to make something called Guava Island. Other performers appearing in the film include Rihanna, Letita Wright, and Nonso Anozie. The film took them four weeks to shoot, and it’s been described as a “fever dream” by Murai.
Oh, and we also know that it’s going to hit Amazon Prime on Saturday, April 13. So, that’s cool. Amazon tweeted out a still very mysterious teaser for the film.

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s going to be one long music video–maybe something akin to David Lynch’s Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Brokenhearted (but also probably not like that at all, and I was just looking for an excuse to link to it). Either way, I’m sure it’ll be something flashy and cool and worth at least an hour-and-a-half of your weekend.
