I remember the first time I saw Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. I also remember the second time. And the third, fourth, and the fifth time (the latter of which is when I finally saw Commentary: The Musical, which continues to be the only commentary track I have ever sat through). Good times.
So when I heard way back when that a Dr. Horrible 2 was a thing, I was very excited. Years later, it still hasn’t happened, so I was beginning to worry that maybe it would never actually happen. Fortunately, it will be. In an interview with Wired, Joss Whedon said:
We’re stuck, basically, at this one part in the process,” Whedon said. “All of us are looking at this summer as the time when we can go, ‘Hey, you know what? We’ve got a little free time, let’s get unstuck.’ Neil has been like, ‘How long?’ We’re all sort of just waiting, but the waiting will stop.
He went on to say that the waiting will be stopping sooner rather than later, and they are looking at this upcoming summer to start the ball rolling. Songs have been written and there is a full outline ready to go, so it’s a matter of when and not if.
Which is awesome.
