Dreamworks appears to have made a deal for a script by Jonathan Tropper about the closing of the last Kodachrome film processing lab in Parsons, Kansas. The deal includes the rights to a New York Times article about the closing of the lab and the story would follow a father and son pair as they travel to Kansas to get their last remaining rolls of Kodachrome developed before it’s too late. Also, Shawn Levy has been named as a possible director.
The idea certainly has potential. As someone who has multiple rolls of Kodachrome that may be forever shrouded in an undevelopable mystery, I think this movie could have sentimental value for a lot of people in the photography and film-based community.
